I spotted this young black stallion on the beach near Carova, NC on 11/29, the Friday morning after Thanksgiving. He was coming off the beach, with his mare following behind and too the left (out of frame in this shot). She had stopped to graze on the sea oats, and he was waiting patiently, while keeping watch. Wild horses have roamed these beaches for over 400 years. They are descendants of Spanish Mustangs from shipwrecks or early settlements.
