Description
The Double Crested Cormorant was resting and drying out in the afternoon sun. These are the most widespread cormorants in North America, and one of the most frequently seen in freshwater. They sometimes spread out their wings when sitting like this, but his one appeared to be mostly dry, and just enjoying the sun. They are noted by the bright orange facial skin and striking aquamarine eyes. The "double crest" is only visible during breeding season.
