Description
A Dandelion seed pod! The Dandelion is part of a large genus of flowering plants (some say weeds, lol) all over the world. Botanists, consider Dandelions to be herbs. For centuries, people have used the leaves, stem, flower, root, and even seed pod of the dandelion for medicinal purposes. Dandelions are said to provide antioxidants, help reduce cholesterol, assist in regulating blood sugar, even reducing inflammation, and lowering blood pressure, and more. The dandelion seed pods, or puff balls, like this one, are said to help stimulate digestion. When released from the pod, the individual seeds can travel as much as 5 miles on the wind.

This may be Salsify, a relative of dandelion and much bigger.
Fon Denton replied:
Quite possible, Robert. It was one of the taller dandelion family members, but there were no flowers around to help identify more specifically.
