Description
The Frisco Pier, on North Carolina's Outer Banks, in January 2017. Built in 1962, it became a beloved community landmark, and popular fishing spot. In 2010, Hurricane Earl caused extensive damage, from which it never recovered. It was privately owned, and the two natives who owned the pier couldn't afford repairs, and it remained closed as they tried to arrange funds to restore it. It was hit again in 2011 by Hurricane Irene. In 2013, it was purchased by the Park Service. Plans were announced in early 2017, to completely destroy it. This shot was taken in January 2017, and a Nor'easter tore down even more of it before it was finally demolished.

It is really a shame that these don't last. Nice for you to get a shot to remember it by.
