The Historic Lifesaving station on Pea Island, at Oregon Inlet. It was vacated by the Coast Guard in 1988, and donated to Dare county. In 2000, it was donated by the county to the State of North Carolina. It was restored by the State in 2008, but is now permanently closed. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
I was born and raised in eastern North Carolina. Now, back home, and just enjoying the ride. I've been a photographer for over 40 years, first as a hobbyist, and then as a professional. I've enjoyed a lifelong love affair with animals domestic and wild, especially horses. I am an animal advocate, an outdoorsman, and naturalist first, and then a photographer. I believe that it is important to know, understand, and respect and protect the subjects that you want to photograph before ever setting foot in the wild.
