Description
An old stallion walking along the beach alone, on Shackleford Banks. His mane is bleached by the sun. The wild horses in this herd are descendants of Spanish Mustangs, from early settlements, and or shipwrecks. They have survived on these barrier islands for nearly 500 years. Shackleford is an island off the coast on North Carolina, near Beaufort. It can only be reached by boat, and it's only residents are the wild horses and other coastal wildlife.
