The American Flag is a part of the opening of every rodeo. It is usually carried by a cowgirl, sometimes as part of a drill team, and sometimes as a lone rider. She circles the arena during the National Anthem, and comes to a stop in the center, head bowed, for the prayer. Then, she rides out in a blaze, as the cheers rise!
I was born and raised in eastern North Carolina. Now, back home, and just enjoying the ride. I've been a photographer for over 40 years, first as a hobbyist, and then as a professional. I've enjoyed a lifelong love affair with animals domestic and wild, especially horses. I am an animal advocate, an outdoorsman, and naturalist first, and then a photographer. I believe that it is important to know, understand, and respect and protect the subjects that you want to photograph before ever setting foot in the wild.
