Description
The Hatteras Island Ferry, is operated by the NC Department of Transportation. One of it's most popular routes is between Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island. It runs every hour year round, and every half hour during the peak summer season. Seen here, the fully loaded Hatteras, one of the smaller ships in the lineup, is chugging back toward the Hatteras Village terminal. This is one of the spots where the channel passes very close to the shore. This was near dusk on a winter day. In the summer, the decks would be lined with tourists, seeing the sights and feeding the seagulls.
