The quintessential farm scene, that always leads to the question "why was that one tree left in the middle of that field?" The most widely accepted answer, is that it was left to provide shelter from the beating sun, in the days before cabbed tractors, or before tractors were used at all. The farmer and sometimes even their animals could get reprieve from the hot midday sun, for a meal, or just a water break. On this early morning, it was raining hard, so it could have provides shelter from an unexpected shower, or storm. This tree could tell stories about many such farmers and animals, and many different crops, over many, many years! It stands as a stoic reminder of times past.
I was born and raised in eastern North Carolina. Now, back home, and just enjoying the ride. I've been a photographer for over 40 years, first as a hobbyist, and then as a professional. I've enjoyed a lifelong love affair with animals domestic and wild, especially horses. I am an animal advocate, an outdoorsman, and naturalist first, and then a photographer. I believe that it is important to know, understand, and respect and protect the subjects that you want to photograph before ever setting foot in the wild. Self-described as a thinker, philosopher, photographer, and geek, but mostly just a dreamer! I won't bore you with a lot of pretense and fluff. I have won awards, been published and all that, and so it seems, has everyone else, and...
