My, what big ears you have! I spotted this white-tail doe as I was hiking near a local lake, only a couple of miles from my house. I regularly see quite a few deer in this area. Obviously, she had found a tasty lunch, and didn't want to leave. She watched as I approached, but never moved away from her meal. I found a clear space through the trees, and was able to take a few shots. She looked up for the camera sounds, but kept eating. On average, a deer needs to eat about 8 pounds of vegetation, per 100 pounds of body weight, per day.
I was born and raised in eastern North Carolina. Now, back home, and just enjoying the ride. I've been a photographer for over 40 years, first as a hobbyist, and then as a professional. I've enjoyed a lifelong love affair with animals domestic and wild, especially horses. I am an animal advocate, an outdoorsman, and naturalist first, and then a photographer. I believe that it is important to know, understand, and respect and protect the subjects that you want to photograph before ever setting foot in the wild. Self-described as a thinker, philosopher, photographer, and geek, but mostly just a dreamer! I won't bore you with a lot of pretense and fluff.
