This beautiful wild filly on Utah's west desert is named Cinder. She is part of the north Onaqui herd, and is probably about a month old in this photo. Her mom is just out of frame to the right. She is just starting to venture away from mom for a few steps, to explore.
I was born and raised in eastern North Carolina. Now, back home, and just enjoying the ride. I've been a photographer for over 40 years, first as a hobbyist, and then as a professional. I've enjoyed a lifelong love affair with animals domestic and wild, especially horses. I am an animal advocate, an outdoorsman, and naturalist first, and then a photographer. I believe that it is important to know, understand, and respect and protect the subjects that you want to photograph before ever setting foot in the wild.
