Artist's Description
The Frisco Pier, on North Carolina's Outer Banks, in January 2017. Built in 1962, it became a beloved community landmark, and popular fishing spot. In 2010, Hurricane Earl caused extensive damage, from which it never recovered. It was privately owned, and the two natives who owned the pier couldn't afford repairs, and it remained closed as they tried to arrange funds to restore it. It was hit again in 2011 by Hurricane Irene. In 2013, it was purchased by the Park Service. Plans were announced in early 2017, to completely destroy it. This shot was taken in January 2017, and a Nor'easter tore down even more of it before it was finally demolished.

About Fon Denton
I was born and raised in eastern North Carolina. Now, back home, and just enjoying the ride. I've been a photographer for over 40 years, first as a hobbyist, and then as a professional. I've enjoyed a lifelong love affair with animals domestic and wild, especially horses. I am an animal advocate, an outdoorsman, and naturalist first, and then a photographer. I believe that it is important to know, understand, and respect and protect the subjects that you want to photograph before ever setting foot in the wild. Self-described as a thinker, philosopher, photographer, and geek, but mostly just a dreamer! I won't bore you with a lot of pretense and fluff. I have won awards, been published and all that, and so it seems, has everyone else, and...
