Description
Driving across the bow of the Ocean Pursuit, as it slowly sinks into the sand. In the early morning hours of March 1st, 2020, the 72' scallop boat, known as Ocean Pursuit, ran aground in the shallow waters near Oregon Inlet. The US Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet responded, and the crew was airlifted to safety. The ship was stuck in rough seas, about 50 yards off the beach of Bodie Island. The fuel and other hazardous materials were removed, while a plan for recovery was to be put in place. So far that plan hasn't developed, and the wind and tides have pushed the ship onto the beach, where it currently sits, sinking into the sand. It's bow is completely covered. Another victim along this dangerous stretch of coastline known as the Graveyard of the Atlantic
